8th May 2006 - Two more safety accreditations for Shield Security

Shield Security has just added two more safety accreditations, for its CCTV and Alarm Installation, to its existing string of health and safety recognitions.

The Hull-based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practice amongst UK contractors, for its CCTV and Alarm Installation practises.

Shield Security was established in Hull in 2002 and it has since grown to become the area's leading security firm. Specialising in car park management and retail park security, the company has recently moved into the rail revenue industry working for major players such as Network Rail and First Group.

The company was originally awarded its application for SAFEcontractor accreditation in 2003 for its Security Guarding and Alarm Response.

Other strings to Shield's belt include the ISO:9001 recognition, NSI National Security Inspectorate and more recently following its expansion into the rail revenue industry, Link-up, which is the UK rail industry supplier qualification scheme, which provides a single common registration, qualification and audit process for suppliers in the UK rail industry.

David Frank, Director of Shield Security, explained: “As the business has grown we felt it was imperative that we had high standards of health and safety practices in place. We have expanded in the fields of CCTV and Alarm installation so it was important to have the right safety procedures in place and to be recognised for these standards for both our staff and customers.

"I believe that these two new accreditations will continue to enhance our ability to attract new contracts, especially within the CCTV and Alarm Installation Fields it will also demonstrate to our existing clients our continued commitment to safety across the whole business."

Jane Ostler, Managing Director of Information Service at National Britannia said: “Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contactors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies.

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Shield has continued to do. The firm's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector."
